Happy Valentine’s Day! To get you in the romantic spirit, Cat Martino has put together some love-ly covers for the occasion and we’re pleased to premiere one here. The New York songwriter – and band member for Sufjan Stevens and Sharon Van Etten – delivers a lo-fi version of Madonna‘s “Into the Groove” that will get you in that seductive mood. Cat Martino did not know what teams were playing in the Superbowl. Nor that Madonna was performing the half-time set when she took this cover out of her back packet to film video an intimate version of one of her favorite songs in her apartment.
Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Brooklyn songstress Cat Martino is ready to release a set of cover songs based around the subject of guess what?… Love! Love Songs For Me, will be released independently this week via Cat’s bandcamp page. She is offering a free download of her rendition of “Blue Moon” to start the project.
