You might think doing an a cappella cover of a song that only includes one guitar and one voice would be a pretty easy task, but when Nick Drake is doing the singing and playing the difficulty of the task certainly increases. Drake’s hushed, iconic voice and intricate guitar patterns don’t scream out for the Glee treatment.
San Francisco pop duo Ramon & Jessica hit upon the right way to do a Drake piece by stripping his song “Free Ride” to just two voices. Their back and forth live performance for Undercover Presents’ tribute to Drake’s album Pink Moon replicates the rhythmic guitar work nicely and singer Dina Maccabee cops Drake’s inflections to a T. Her harmonizing with partner Jesse Olsen makes this quite a fitting tribute. Check out the video below.
