The Chapman Family will be keeping busy in 2012. The English post-punk band recently released a cover of Morrissey’s “Everyday Is Like Sunday,” along with an announcement to share additional material, both original work and cover songs, as the year progresses.

If their Morrissey cover is any indication of what is to come, we may anticipate a wave of haunting sentimentality. “Everyday Is Like Sunday,” although one of Morrissey’s first solo hits, still maintained what the Smiths managed to do so well – sardonic lyrics with danceable beats. The Chapman Family strips away the momentum resulting in a chillingly slow version. It’s articulate, meditative, and we daresay more depressing than Morrissey’s original. Check out the video below.
