Leonard Cohen’s new album Old Ideas comes out next week, and to celebrate, Rolling Stone is hosting a cover series called “Old Ideas with New Friends.” The first performance comes from Greg Dulli, of Afghan Whigs and the Twilight Singers, doing his take on “Paper Thin Hotel.”
“I’ve always wanted to do a version of this song,” he says. “They might be my favorite set of Leonard Cohen lyrics, I think they kind of explain and validate love all at the same time. And to someone who’s been challenged in that department many times, it was a beautiful catharsis to do this song.”
Watch Dulli cover “Paper Thin Hotel” below, then stay tuned for future covers from Cults, Deerhunter’s Bradley Cox, Cold War Kids and New Pornographers’ A.C Newman. (via Rolling Stone)
