Last winter, New York folk act Bobtown kicked off their “Bobtown Covers Project” with a take on Blue Öyster Cult’s classic “(Don’t Fear) the Reaper.” After a long break, they’ve revived the four-part project with a cover of Arcade Fire‘s “My Body Is a Cage.” Their version is the latest in a series of covers of “My Body Is a Cage,” including Peter Gabriel’s standout eerie rendition from two years ago.

Bobtown’s bluegrass-tinged take on the Neon Bible track follows in the footsteps of their “Reaper” cover. They swap the bombastic organ of the original for delicate three-part harmonies, framed at first with only stark banjo. Eventually the rest of the band joins in with acoustic guitars and subtle percussion to fill out the finale of the track. Though not as grandiose as the original, their folk-ification of “My Body Is a Cage” should make listeners look forward to the remaining two covers in the series, which the band says will be released this winter.
