This weekend the SF Bay Area saw both Green Day and Metallica playing quite unique live shows. Just a couple hours before headlining Live 105’s “Not So Silent Night” in Oakland, Jane’s Addiction cancelled due to a family issue and local heroes Green Day filled in. Across the bay at the Fillmore, Metallica was holding a very special 30th Anniversary show for their fan club.
Many artists sent birthday regards via video that aired at the show. Green Day chose to cover Metallica’s favorite punk band and rocked out the Misfit’s “Hybrid Moments” for the metalheads. Make sure you watch til the end when the band goes into “Happy Birthday” and Billie Joe Armstrong proclaims “Happy birthday you old ass heavy metal motherf*ckers!” (via Consequence of Sound).
