We first caught wind of Please, Please, Please: A Tribute To The Smiths back in March and next week it finally arrives. From the sound of the first three covers, it’ll be worth snagging.
First, Telekinesis, who’s already covered Nirvana, Superchunk, and Belle & Sebastian this year, delivers a dependably crunchy indie-rock take on “Sheila Take a Bow.” Then, Sara Lov slows it down a bit more on a gently grooving “Well I Wonder.” Finally, Kitten go grand with some big synths and a soaring vocals on “Panic.” Listen to all three tracks below, then preorder the album at American Laundromat Records.

Never heard Kitten before but the singer sounds like Sophie Ellis-Bextor. And *no-one* sounds like Sophie E-B!
