Last we saw EMA, she was wrecking a roomful of equipment in a version of Nirvana “Endless Nameless.” On her new cover of the Violent Femmes’ “Add It Up,” though, she only destroys one thing: your eardrums.
The clip, which comes from a show in Belgium a couple weeks back, finds Erika M. Anderson sounding dark and threatening on this jerky interpretation. Her band rocks out while the violin player breaks every string on his bow (we assume). Like many of her originals, it builds to a vocal chord-shredding climax. Thanks to One Thirty BPM for spotting this one.
