Back on Talk Like a Pirate Day 2010, we commissioned a nautical cover from Pirates for Sail. You all chose the B-52s’ “Rock Lobster” (good call) from the all-pirate band. Well, getting a dozen pirates into a room to record music takes some doing, but at long last, the ship has arrived. Before we get to the song, though, let’s turn it over the frontman Black Dog Nate to introduce…
Avast again, cover fans! Thought ye were well rid of me, did ye? Turns out ye were wrong, and it’s too late to do anything about it now so ye may as well listen to what I’ve got to say. As I recall, quite some time ago you lot decided that the good crew of Pirates For Sail should cover a little shantey by the B-52s, by the title of “Rock Lobster.” Well, after many a travail, we’ve gone and done it! I lead the vocals, Stringalong Jim and the Reverend Doctor Skippy are strummin’ away on guitar, and the track features our lovely new fiddler Lassie Lyons and even a cameo from our superfan Narwhal Ned. We hope it brings a smile to yer face and a tear to yer eye.
