If you don’t have Everything But the Girl’s quasi-covers album Acoustic, get it. In their day, Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt knew how to cut to the core of a cover song better than just about anyone. The pair parted ways in 2000, but have returned with a new cover of the xx’s “Night Time.”

Pitchfork reports that the track comes from Tracey Thorn’s upcoming EP of the same name, which also features covers of Vampire Weekend and Sufjan Stevens. So no, this isn’t technically by Everything But the Girl, but that’s just semantics. The track was recorded for an xx tribute album that never came to be (damn!) and adds to the list of spooky xx covers, offering a chillier electronic vibe than the duo’s previous covers. Listen to the cover below.
