Watch: First Aid Kit Brings Patti Smith to Tears with “Dancing Barefoot”

For most bands, playing covers amounts to a rite of passage. They bang out a favorite tune in some anonymous bar, or as an encore in an arena in Wichita or Winnipeg. No big deal, right? Well, it is a big deal if the artist being covered is in the audience.

Patti Smith received the Polar Music Prize in Stockholm recently and during the ceremony Swedish sisters First Aid Kit performed Smith’s “Dancing Barefoot.” Judging by Smith’s emotional reaction, she approves of their powerful take on the song. We agree. Watch the video below. (via TwentyFourBit)
