Although many of us refuse to admit it, it’s true: sometimes country music is just too hard to resist. Grounded lyrics, often ironically cheerful melodies, and that distinct country twang can get the best of us belting without even meaning to. At least the members of the Arizona-born The Summer Set aren’t too proud to profess their love for country music. In fact, they honor the genre with a cover of country music star Blake Shelton’s hit song, “Honey Bee.”

The pop-punk band keeps “Honey Bee” country with acoustic guitars and three-part harmonies. But the addition of a harmonica, tambourine, and box drum help make their cover distinct and only serve to enhance that down-South feel. Lead singer Brian Dales’ voice, a clear contrast to Blake Shelton’s deep baritone, also helps to set their version apart from the original.
