L.A. noise-rock band HEALTH are generally known for being loud as balls, so it’s surprising to find their cover taking a song down a notch. That’s just what they do on their version of Pictureplane’s “Goth Star” though. The original stomped and roared in a hazy assault while HEALTH’s cover recovers some of the buried-deep melody.

“Goth Star” borrows liberally from Fleetwood Mac’s “Seven Wonders” and it sounds like some of Stevie Nicks’ original vocals have been restored here, albeit in a chopped-and-screwed style that renders them borderline unrecognizable. Check out HEALTH’s “Goth Star” below. Incidentally, this marks our second cover of the buzzed-about Denver producer, following True Womanhood’s version of “Dark Rift.”
