According to the Daily Mirror, Kanye West has recorded a cover of Amy Winehouse’s “Back to Black” in tribute to the singer. A source described it as “pretty emotive. It’s Kanye singing from the heart – with synthesizers.” He apparently will debut it in London next month when he arrives for menswear company Moss Bros’ anniversary celebration.
Those details are admittedly sketchy, but it makes sense. Last week, West paid tribute to Winehouse at England’s Big Chill festival. He described her as “this beautiful, amazing, talented and funny woman” and had his DJ play Winehouse’s” Tears Dry on Their Own” and “Back to Black” while he held up his arm in salute. A far cry from their quasi-feud a few years back. While you wait to hear Kanye’s own version, watch a video of the Big Chill tribute below.
