As you probably saw, last week Google changed their logo in honor of Les Paul’s birthday. The playable guitar, still available here, offered ten strings and a whole array of cover possibilities. We tweeted out some of our favorite covers that day – special shoutout to the person who did John Cage’s 4’33” – but some performances needed a little longer to develop. Here is one.
Look at the Fields’ version of Britney Spears’ “Till the World Ends” starts off all-doodle, creating a dirty, hazy atmosphere by running the tool through some effects pedals. They soon mix in real drums, but the warbly computerized guitar remains. Accompanied by a vaguely disturbing video, it’s all around the best use of the tool we’ve seen. Watch it below.
