A few hours before Keegan DeWitt proposed to his wife, he serenaded her with an abbreviated acoustic version of “Wild Heart” off Stevie Nicks‘ 1983 album, “The Wild Heart.” During SXSW in Austin this year, DeWitt performed a mini-set for the Daytrotter Sessions at 1 a.m.

While Stevie’s original version clocks in at over six minutes, DeWitt boils down the essence of the repetitive chorus into a sweet three minutes. With just his guitar and accompanying vocals by Nashville musician Madi Diaz, the song was part of an evening DeWitt described as “kinda magical.” Have a listen below, then compare it to Futurebirds’ cover of the same song.
