Justin Timberlake’s singing career these days may be limited to Saturday Night Live shorts, but songs from 2006’s FutureSex/LoveSounds continue to provide great cover fodder, even five years later. The latest comes from New York brass-punk band Apocalypse Five and Dime, who give us their Timber-take on “My Love.”
Simple ukulele strumming starts us off, but the peace doesn’t last long. Soon a violin, tuba, bass drum, and more stomp in, creating a Balkan-Brooklyn hootenanny. It comes off their upcoming album Ballads of the End Times, which promises to be another winning entry in the cannon of Eastern European-influenced rockers like Gogol Bordello and DeVotchKa.
