Garage punks Smith Westerns espouse an old-school, just-pick-up-your-guitar-and-play ethic, and have garnered a good deal of attention over the past couple of years. Don’t forget, though, that they’re just barely out of high school.
Well, you won’t forget when you watch them on the latest episode of A.V.Undercover, covering Tom Petty‘s classic “American Girl.” From their very brief interview to the aloof performance of singer Cullen Omori, they come across as very teenage. They do present a nice instrumental arrangement though, slowing the song down for the choruses and picking it back up again on the verse. Check out the video below.
