Cover lovers around the world should feel indebted to the creators of the Voice Project. Week after week, this group of musically-inclined philanthropists brings musicians and fans together for the sake of song and charity and in doing so gives all of us a slew of wonderful covers to enjoy. We have already featured a number of the Voice Project’s finest covers, but feel inclined to continue the coverage since everything they drop is just that good.

Following recent covers by the Low Anthem, Ben Solee, and Nicole Atkins, Broken Social Scene brings forth a favorite from the Modest Mouse back catalogue: “The World at Large.” Even without their usual bevy of musicians and singers behind them, Broken Social Scene was still able to make their version of “The World at Large” a complete departure. Frontman Kevin Drew sings and plays the slow-paced drums that drag a bit behind the lead guitar, while band members fill the rest of the song in with a bit of piano, amp distortion, and saxophone. Check it out in the video below.
