Covers of “Never Tear Us Apart” are a dime a dozen – even INXS themselves are covering it these days! Still, no matter how many times you’ve heard the song, a great interpretation stands out. Birmingham, Alabama’s The Great Book of John delivers such a cover on their new single. It puts on a polished southern-rock spin, thick and meaty with crunch-tastic guitars and a rock-god solo that actually has something to say.

The tune was recorded a few weeks ago after it received rapturous reception at their SXSW shows. Filmmaker Seth Newell came in to document the proceedings, showing how enjoyable a basic in-studio clip can be when done right. Watch it, and download the MP3, below.
