Seven-inch vinyl singles seem to be perfect mediums for cover swapping. So much so, in fact, that cover-trades often get called 7”s even when there’s no actual wax involved. Such is the case with TV Girl/Dirty Gold’s new release. Each building a wave of hype, the two San Diego beach-pop bands swap songs on a new split single.

TV Girl’s cover of “Overboard” features some wild B-3 organ riding the surf. Dirty Gold’s “On Land,” on the other hand, spaces out in a hazy squalor. It’s the lo-fi haze-pop that Panda Bear or Best Coast would admire. We imagine you’ll be hearing about both bands a lot more this year, particularly once the weather warms. Check both out below.
