Last fall, Kanye West took over the Internet with his G.O.O.D. Fridays series of free song releases. Now, Durham NC quartet Delta Rae tries to one-up him with a similar GRAET Mondays campaign. Fittingly, one of the first songs in their weekly updates is a joyous cover of West’s “All of the Lights.”
It’s not the only cover so far though. The rollicking tune is matched in energy by their version of Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” (a song we’ve seen covered several times before). If covering those songs has become clichéd though, their third cover comes from a more unexpected source: a hidden track on Alanis Morissette’s smash Jagged Little Pill. “Your House” finds singer Brittany Holljes singing the obscure gem “the way I learned to 13 years ago, loud and proud in the back of a van.” We imagine the sound quality on this is better than it would have been in 1995 though.
