While true for several Beatles’ hits, the name of the song “Strawberry Fields Forever” seems to anticipate the number of covers that would later be made of it. Good thing Lennon changed the working title, “It’s Not Too Bad.” That phrase does little justice to either the original version or this latest quirky and organic cover made by Twintapes.
Though they formed the group as roommates, the pair no longer even live in the same city. This type of scenario usually spells the end for budding bands, but by fully embracing the potentials of the World Wide Web, the band has found a way to make music together. A lack of grounding seems to infuse the band’s dreamy, a cappella interpretation of the song. Created just with Pavel Rivera’s nostalgic-sounding vocals and all the other sounds made on Jon Estes’ small Martin guitar, this song evokes the pure and wistful charms of the inspired childhood Lennon wrote about.
