If you read any best-of-2010 music lists, you probably saw that Brothers pops up more than once. It made the top 50 lists of Spin, MOJO, NPR, Paste, and a whole lot of others. Rolling Stone even put it at #2! Presumably the year-end hype brought in a few new fans, so no surprise that another cover cropped up. It’s Athens duo My Drunken Haze, turning “Too Afraid to Love You” into an aching torch song.

Sophie Angeli’s tortured vocals hold you breathless for the full nine minutes. To think the original clocked in at 3:25…Guitarist Spiros Friligos lightly strums along, but it might as well be a cappella. The recording is lo-fi in the old-school sense of “a little scratchy,” but it matters not a bit. Download it below.
