The David Bowie cover material just keeps on coming. I guess that’s what happens when you put out a 35-song tribute album. First we heard Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Vivian Girls, and John Frusciante’s takes on Bowie tunes. Then we premiered the sonic blast that is A Place to Bury Strangers’ “Suffragette City.” Now comes the first video of the bunch. It visualizes Warpaint’s cover of “Ashes to Ashes” through a series of time-lapse videos taken around Arizona.
Filmed by Freddie Paull over the course of a month, city and desert images unite for a whole lot of fast-moving clouds and hectic parties. Paull describes it as, “a surreal look at life in the valley of the sun, and life in the fast lane.” Each time-lapse shot was taken over the course of 1-5 hours; that’s dedication!
