By my count, we’ve posted covers of MGMT‘s “Kids” five times already this year. Last year we named Ben Lee’s meditative version one of the Best Cover Songs of 2009. All this begs the question, does the world really need another version of this song?
Yes.
A killer hook’s a killer hook, no matter how many times it’s been played. Montreal “acoustic cover band” The Generator Joels keep the poppy feel with acoustic guitars and some tom-toms, ending in a nice bluegrass-ey jam. Given that no one seems to be attempting a “Flash Delirium” cover, another run “Kids” can never hurt.
