In the past few weeks we’ve received two separate “She’s Lost Control” cover submissions. This seemed as good an occasion as any for some more Joy Division love. Our Five Good Covers post on “Love Will Tear Us Apart” proved popular, so let’s keep the post-punk flowing!
We start with a video of Ian Curtis and co. performing the song. The fuzzy audio only adds to the atmosphere.

Now the covers. Both have an electronic slant to them, but they push the style in very different directions. Berlin duo I’m Not a Band combines spastic beats with churning violin for a frenetic rave. Then we hop over to Portugal for a more mellow interpretation from DREAMS. The trio produces a sleepy meander, distant guitar guiding a melancholy lament. Download/stream them both, then tell us which you prefer in the comments.

i think the INAB is more authentic to the original, but the DREAMS is absolutely more interesting. i prefer the latter.
Why didn’t you include Grace Jones’ version?
