• This month’s Pink Floyd-themed MOJO magazine comes with a treat: a CD jammed with covers of every song on both Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here. Wowzers. To entice you to buy a copy or ten, they released this cover of “Welcome to the Machine.” Beak> features Geoff Barrow of Portishead, so you know you’re in for something good.

• Continuing the theme of bands with weird punctuation in their name: :Papercutz. This ambient-electro duo use churning drums and bottomless bass to build the Cure’s “Disintegration” up from a haunting slow jam to a dark banger.

• Colorado blog I Am Fuel, You Are Friends runs a great series where they record folk acts in a local church. Their latest session captures area duo The Changing Colors playing two originals and a deep-cut Tom Waits cover.

• History mostly remembers Lesley Gore for oldies staple “It’s My Party,” but in the mid-‘60s she actually had quite a number of hits. We heard a cover of one such hit back in June with Sneak Peek’s “You Don’t Own Me” and now here’s a second. London singer-songwriter Alessi’s Ark digs up a peppy pop song that will stay in your head the rest of the day.

• This one popped up in our mailbox last week and we fell instantly in love with it. This accordion-laced folk tune does the unthinkable: it makes you feel actual emotions (other than rage) while listening to a Hanson song.
