SXSW always sees surprise performances and epic parties aplenty, and I was told “Don’t chase the unicorn.” The key is to enjoy the great shows you come across and don’t waste time trying to hunt down the big “can’t-miss” events. However, when I caught wind that Bon Iver and Megafaun were reuniting their college band DeYarmond Edison at the Fader Fort, I knew that something special was going to happen. Members of the bands were in town to play as Gayngs, their latest super group. With groups like James Blake and Ellie Goulding on hand, the Fader Fort already had buzz bands aplenty, but this last-minute addition was a unicorn worth chasing. Continue reading »
