If you are lucky enough to be at SXSW right now, you still have the opportunity to catch genre-benders Radiation City before they get really big. The Portland-based band has already made some waves, making NPR’s list of “Bands You Should Have Known in 2012,” and Time’s “11 Great Bands You Don’t Know (But Should),” amongst others. Here, the band gives away a free cover of Astrud Gilberto’s 1964 song “Fly Me To The Moon.”
The original, which is known more for its Frank Sinatra rendition, has that jazzy, classic feel to it. Radiation City’s version manages to keep that classic feel while adding an ethereal dreaminess to it as well, which is rather fitting. Check it out (and download it!) below:
