Continuing the flood of Lou Reed tributes, Ian McCulloch of Scouse new wave legends Echo & The Bunnymen recently performed a Velvet Underground cover for the NME.
However this is no bandwagon jumping, throughout their career the Bunnymen have paid tribute to the Velvets with covers in the 80’s of ‘Run, Run, Run’ and ‘Heroin’ and it was easy to see the influence Lou Reed, John Cale and Co had on the band.
Missing his usual Bunnymen guitarist Will Sergeant for this session Ian is flanked by a guitarist and drummer and bashes out a no-frills ‘Waiting For The Man’, another from the all-time classic ‘Velvet Underground & Nico’ LP. Check it out below.
