Daft Punk‘s upcoming album Random Access Memories is easily one of the most anticipated albums of the past decade. In all the hype, there have been a slew of remixes and mash-ups of the French electronic duo’s No. 1 single, “Get Lucky.” Pretty soon we can start adding covers to that list of homage to the tune. English folk trio Daughter is one of the first up to bat with a dazed and dreamy rendition of the undeniably catchy tune.
Daughter, as we have seen in the past with their Hot Chip/Bon Iver mash-up, is really good at adding an ache and desperation to any song. “Get Lucky” is no exception. While the original boasts Pharrell’s optimistic crooning, Daughter frontwoman Elena Tonra transforms the song into a plea, complete with chill-inducing reverberation and airy guitars.
