The members of New York’s PS22 Chorus are arguably some of the most famous fifth graders in the world. They’ve racked up 42 million views and counting on Youtube, where they post their covers of artists from Matisyahu to Kylie Minogue. Last week they shared the stage with Sinead O’Connor at Manhattan’s Highline Ballroom, opening her show with their take on Gotye‘s much-covered “Somebody That I Used to Know.”

PS22 is far from the first group to cover Gotye’s breakthrough single, which is currently ruling the charts in the UK. In fact, there are so many covers that we’ve already counted down our favorites. Some artists have done more to alter the track than PS22, who keep their take relatively straightforward with a soloist handling the verses and the whole chorus chiming in for the chorus. The students and their director get major props, however, for keeping music in schools fun and relevant. Watch the video of their performance below.
