Arctic Monkeys have been on quite the covers kick lately. Frontman Alex Turner recently stopped by Australian radio station Triple J for a solo performance of Patsy Cline’s “Strange.” This week the Sheffield quartet visited the UK’s Radio One and premiered their take on Katy B‘s “On a Mission.”
The Monkeys have covered everyone from Nick Cave to Girls Aloud, and they manage to bring their distinct, garage-rock sound to any track. They do the same with “On a Mission,” keeping the vibe of the cover in line with the more serious aesthetic they’ve developed on their recent albums. Their version of “On a Mission” strips away the club-ready production of the original, trading dubstep for stripped-down guitars. Check out a video of the session below.
