We’ve seen him impersonate Neil Young, Bob Dylan, and the Boss with uncanny accuracy. On his show Friday night, Jimmy Fallon debuted his latest classic-rock icon: Jim Morrison. He fronted a Doors tribute band through, as always, a brilliant novelty cover: the theme from Reading Rainbow.
The song works brilliantly as a trippy organ-blasted Doors song. Fallon keeps a straight face throughout his dead-on impersonation (which, if you remember his chuckle-heavy performances on Saturday Night Live, is always shocking). Our only critique: Would it have been too hard to get a LeVar Burton cameo? The guy hangs out on Community after all.

I’m so glad to have come across this. As a kid I’m sure there were times when I was watching Reading Rainbow in the living room and could hear my dad listening to The Doors in his bedroom at the same time. A bit synchronistic!
Unbelievable. He nails the voice and mannerisms and not from various movies, Morrison’s real sway.
That is all.
