Calling Birdy incredibly talented for a 15-year old is accurate, but insufficient. This small singer is incredibly talented for any age. She’s warmed hearts all over Britain in the past year with her covers of the xx and Bon Iver and her debut album just dropped over there. It includes the aforementioned cuts, as well as covers of Phoenix, the National, Fleet Foxes, the Postal Service, and more. We’ve got a few sample tracks to stream below.

Her version of Fleet Foxes’ “White Winter Hymnal” applies her soaring-piano-ballad template beautifully. It adds thicker production than the woodsy original, using only a few voices to wring out every ounce of emotion. Her version of the National’s “Terrible Love” takes the same approach, letting her knockout voice do the heavy lifting. The Postal Service’s “The District Sleeps Alone Tonight” adds a little more electronic flair, adding glitchy rhythms to a (relatively) subdued delivery. Listen to all three below (plus download the Fleet Foxes), check out the tracklist, and buy the full album at Amazon.
