Jude Moses lives in the hills of North Carolina, and for his cover of The Magnetic Fields‘ classic “The Book of Love” he took advantage of the area’s rural beauty and shot the video beside the famous Blue Ridge Parkway. Also famously covered by Peter Gabriel, the song’s simple elegance matches the tranquil setting nicely.

It’s hard to tell if it’s the concrete structure he’s in or effects added to the video, but the recording has a gorgeous reverb sound, complementing the chunky guitar strumming and his soaring vocals. His interpretation owes more to Gabriel’s dramatic version than the understated original, stretching out the long notes and infusing it with as much emotion as possible. Watch the video below (and comment if you agree that he looks a lot like The Tallest Man on Earth with black hair).
