Quickies rounds up new can’t-miss covers. Download ‘em below.

Doom-y electropop gal Chelsea Wolfe turns everything she touches to spooky. From her music, an affinity to Nick Cave could pretty much be assumed. She makes the connection explicit in this extra-dark cover of a Bad Seeds gem.

Speaking of dark, witchy ladies…Lykke Li. A high point of her 2011 album Wounded Rhymes was “Silent My Song,” a gathering storm of a ballad. Things get even more ominous in LAS & Twinkle’s minimal electro cover.

Shoegazing dream-pop duo Asobi Seksu build waves of atmosphere and aura. This makes them a strange pairing with the more straight-ahead Walkmen. Once you hear Asobi Seksu’s cover of “Little House of Savages,” you’ll wonder how it ever sounded any different.

In July, we spotlighted Aquarium Drunkard’s new “Lagniappe Sessions” series with covers by William Elliott Whitmore. The latest installment finds folkie Strand of Oaks tackling obvious influences (Michael Hurley, here) and less obvious (Moby, below).

CokeMachineGlow is working on their latest covers podcast, this time with an ‘80s theme. To preview it, they released a new song by Ravens and Chimes. It’s a delicate folk-rock Echo and the Bunnymen cover that makes us excited to hear the full set.
