If you want to pick a hip song to cover for a children’s project, you could do worse than the White Stripes’ “We’re Going to Be Friends.” Jack Johnson did it for the Curious George soundtrack and now Bright Eyes and First Aid Kit do it for a children’s charity.

Their cute electronic version appears on Cool for School: For the Benefit of the Lunchbox Fund, a school-themed covers album. The Lunchbox Fund provides meals to students in South Africa and comes out digitally October 11th. Listen to “We’re Going to Be Friends” and check out the full tracklist below. (via Pitchfork)
Update: Listen to Albert Hammond, Jr.’s cover of Big Star’s “Thirteen” at Stereogum.
