Kiriyama Family’s website introduces them as the “new, self-proclaimed princes of indie-electro-pop.” Since they’re still recording their first LP, we might have to wait a little while longer to find out if that title is warranted. In the mean time, the Icelandic band has released a laid back cover of Daft Punk’s 2001 single “Something About Us.”
Kiriyama Family leaves Daft Punk’s instrumentals largely intact, though they add a warmer tone to the French duo’s chilly electronics. The cover’s biggest change comes in the vocals, which have a more traditionally human vibe than the distant, robotic voices of the original.
