It’s been some time since Lady Gaga’s “Telephone” was all over the airwaves; think back to when you couldn’t turn on the radio without hearing the song on at least three different stations. Despite this fact, British singer/songwriter Catherine A.D. chose to cover the track, and her rendition’s far from the electronic pop hit you’re used to hearing.

The moment the song begins with a soft-playing piano, it’s clear that Catherine took on “Telephone” from a completely different angle. Swelling violins and Catherine’s full-bodied voice finish off her creative stripped-down take on the song. This version’s acoustic instrumentation may not be as fitting as the original’s, given the club-centered lyrics, but it’s a great listen regardless. See for yourself below.
