Beyoncé is known to some as “Queen B” for a reason. As one of the best-selling musical artists of all time, taking on one of her many hits to cover is no easy feat. But the experimental duo from Boston, Sonnymoon, may have come out on top with their take on Beyoncé’s “Yes,” a smooth R&B single off her very first solo album, Dangerously in Love.

Their version is just as easy on the ears as the original, and Anna Wise has no trouble keeping up with Beyoncé’s vocals. But what really sets the song apart are its rippling background beats and spacey electronic flourishes, courtesy of Sonnymoon’s other half, Dane Orr. While the original sounds very much like a typical R&B track, Sonnymoon’s remake is sonically unique and enjoyable in its own right. In this case, it may be safe to say that their experiment was a success. Listen for yourself below. (via Hypetrak)
