Until now, PS I Love You had a good trend going with their covers. First came a version of Robyn’s “Cry When You Get Older,” then a few months later they followed that with Madonna’s “Where the Party?” Their grungy, wailing performance flipped the female pop songs to the heartbroken cries of anguished men.

They break that trend on their newest cover, a raging version of Rush’s “Subdivisions.” One thing doesn’t change though: Paul Saulnier slays on guitar. They strip away most of the synthesizer elements without losing the bombast. “Subdivisions,” along with “Where’s the Party,” appears on the group’s new collection Figure It Out, which dropped today. Check out “Subdivisions” below.

  1. I’m not familiar with PS I Love You; maybe the rest of their material fits their delivery. But this rendition made my ears itch.

  2. I always wanted to know what The Cure would sound like (in a garage) covering a Canadian progressive power rock trio. Now I know.

You’re angst ridden, we get it. Stop ruining other people’s music.

  3. Great instrumental track. As for the vocals, yeah, you’re an “artist,” we get it. “The heartbroken cries of anguished men” is not what I hear, but what I feel welling up inside of me upon every stunt porpoise-like vocal fart that soils my ear canal upon listening. This is my opinion–your experience may vary.
