Indie bands continue to pick off songs from the A.V. Club’s list of covers for A.V. Undercover. For the latest edition, singer-songwriter Rocky Votolato joins with Philly band Matt Pond PA for a sensitive take on The Human League‘s “Don’t You Want Me.”

The word “sensitive” certainly doesn’t pop into your mind when you hear the electronic drums and booming synth bass of the early ’80s number one smash. Votolato and Pond, however, pare the song down to two guitars and plucked cello, creating this quiet ballad. This could have easily devolved into parody, especially when Pond sings the female vocal, but they take their job seriously and nail their delicate harmonies on the chorus. Watch the video below.
