The orchestra at Trinity College in Dublin, being completely student-run and conducted, isn’t your typical college ensemble. Not only are they extremely talented, but their autonomy lets them bring orchestral music to crazy and creative new places, like this amazing adaption of Daft Punk classics. In February the orchestra performed the group’s album Discovery in its entirety in Trinity’s Exam Hall, marking the first ever live orchestral performance of Daft Punk’s compositions, and they closed out the event with this greatest-hits medley as their encore.

The Trinity Orchestra supplements the usual orchestra string and horn sections with some rock instrumentation, featuring a few electric guitarists, an electric bass and a trio of vocalists. One of these singers even gets the auto-tune treatment to lead a bass and clarinet-heavy rendition of “Around The World.” Other highlights include a horn-centric “One More Time,” some Van Halen-style guitar tapping heroics and snippets of “Aerodynamic,” “Da Funk,” “Superheroes” and “Crescendolls.” Kudos to arranger/conductor Rob Farhat and the Trinity Orchestra for keeping the audience dancing like no other college orchestra in history. Watch the impressive performance below.
