The 4onthefloor has four members. Gabriel sings and plays bass drum. James plays guitar and bass drum. Chris plays bass and bass drum. Mark plays drums, which includes – you guessed it – a bass drum. Yes, the name “4onthefloor” is meant literally: four bass drums, on the floor, pounding out the beat on each and every song. If the current dubstep wave has you yearning for a steadier, stronger rhythm, this band is for you.

M. Ward doesn’t seem like a songwriter whose work would necessarily lend itself to constant 4/4 thumping, but it works surprisingly well on 4onthefloor’s cover of “Magic Trick.” “It is a very short track on his album, and I wanted to build it up a bit more,” singer/bass drum #1 player Gabriel Douglas told us. “We did an ‘add-on-every-time’ ooh-ooh at the end of every verse to bring more into the song.”
