We’ve told you about the Voice Project before. The non-profit supports efforts towards peace in North Uganda, helping in particular the women so often victimized in such conflicts. To spread the word, they record regular cover videos by well-known performers for their website. What’s the connection between cover songs and Uganda? Nothing – but a cover allows a site like ours to inform readers about their noble efforts, all while providing a great new tune. Win-win.

Their latest cover proves a particular treat. It’s Cover Me standby Nicole Atkins covering the Avett Brothers. After the boys’ Grammy performance, even your mom is probably an Avett fan, so it proves a timely selection. Atkins dug a little deeper than “Head Full of Doubt, Road Full of Promise” though. No, she travels way back to 2006’s Four Thieves Gone: The Robbinsville Sessions for her cover of “Pretend Love.” Enjoy it below.

Great song, but the name of the song is “Pretend Love,” not “Pretend Time.”

Thanks for the correction! Must have been watching too much ‘Barney’ or something.
