Dec 162010

On December 7th, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band convened on the frigid Asbury Park boardwalk for a very special concert, their first in over a year. The occasion: playing songs from The Promise – the new Darkness on the Edge of Town outtakes album that inspired the 31st best cover of 2010 – for a future webcast. At the time, only a select group of a few dozen fans witnessed the excitement. Now we all can. The webcast just went up, and it includes a Christmas bonus!

After runs through “Racing in the Street (’78),” “Ain’t Good Enough for You,” and more, Springsteen brings on a horn section to join him on a holiday jam. No, it’s not “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town” (turn on your oldies radio for that one – odds are it’s playing right now). Instead, he and the boys break out a jolly “Blue Christmas,” Santa hats and all. Check out that song below, or watch the whole concert here.
