Don and Phil Everly boast two of the most beautiful voices in popular music history. Stephen Colbert and Elvis Costello do not. That didn’t stop them from busting out a surprisingly tender “All I Have to Do Is Dream” on The Colbert Report last night. “I’ll be back on Monday, but until then, I’ll see you in my dreams,” Colbert says. The audience seems pleasantly confused.
For those keeping track, yes, this is the fourth late night cover we’ve featured here in the past 24 hours. Late night cover action hasn’t been this happening since Jimmy Fallon’s Rolling Stones covers week back in May! Get up to speed with selections from William Shatner, Will Ferrell, and Huey Lewis and the News. Now…Elvis. (via TwentyFourBit)
Check out the full show at Colbert Nation. Costello also performed “A Slow Drag with Josephine” off his new album National Ransom.
